Attendees of the Environmental Lecture Series are in for a treat as Bryan England will be presenting on the intriguing topic of "Restoring North Carolina's Historic Peavine Prairies." The lecture promises to delve into the fascinating history of the Carolina Piedmont region and its once abundant 'peavine' ecosystem.

According to historical sources, the Carolina Piedmont region was once characterized by "vast prairies, with pea-vine grass." However, following European settlement, this unique ecosystem mysteriously vanished. Bryan England's presentation aims to shed light on the 'peavine' ecosystem seen by early settlers, unravel the reasons behind its rapid collapse, and explore the possibility of resurrecting this lost ecology in North Carolina today.

The lecture is scheduled for Monday, May 13th from 7 to 8 p.m. and is open to individuals aged 12 and above. The event is free of cost, and attendees can register on RecLink to secure their spot for this enlightening session.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the rich ecological history of North Carolina and the potential for restoring the state's lost 'peavine' ecosystem.
